Opera Garnier

Visit one of the most famous opera houses in the world

This 1,979-seat opera house was built between 1861 to 1875, for the Paris Opera, and its opulence is just as striking today. Originally called the Salle des Capucines, thanks to its location on the Boulevard des Capucines, but it was soon changed to honour its architect, Charles Garnier. This was the home of the Paris Opera and the Paris Opera Ballet until 1989, when the Opéra Bastille opened at the Place de la Bastille.
